“I’m A Good Person”

Do you think that you are a good person? Did you know that this puts you in total disagreement with what God says on the subject?

No One Is Good
When asked, most people say, “I’m a good person. God wouldn’t send me to Hell.”

The problem with this statement is that it contradicts the plain words of Jesus Christ. In Mark 10:18 (kjv) we read, “And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. “

If you think you are good, then you either think Jesus was mistaken or you think that YOU are God!

None Righteous
Of course, there’s a bit of sarcasm in that last statement. I would certainly hope that you don’t think that you are smarter than Jesus Christ. And, for your sanity’s sake, I certainly would hope that you do not claim to be God. But those are the very real implications involved if you insist on proclaiming yourself to be a good person.

In fact, the Bible repeats over and over that you and I are not “good”. In Romans 3:10, Paul wrote, “There is none righteous, no, not one,” and in verse 12 of that same chapter he quotes the Psalms saying, “…there is none that doeth good, no, not one. “ (see Psalm 14:3 kjv).

The prophet Isaiah (64:6 kjv) says that, “our righteousness are as filthy rags.” The prophet Jeremiah (17:9 kjv) said, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Over and over, the Bible is clear. Man is not good!

Will you accept what God has said on the matter?

God Will Not Send You To Hell (Lake of Fire)
Whether or not a person ends up in Heaven or Hell has nothing to do with their ability to be “good”. Being good can’t get you into Heaven and being “bad” can’t send you to Hell. The reality is, a person’s eternal destiny relies on what they do or do NOT do with Jesus Christ.

Jesus said plainly that you must believe the He is the Son of God who came to die for your sins. In John 8:24 He clearly states, “if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” So, the question isn’t, “Are you a good person?” The question that must be answered is, “Will you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?”

The fact is, if a person ends up in the eternal Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15) it will be because he or she CHOSE to go there by choosing to reject Jesus Christ. God calls on us to “choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19). We are told in James 1:21 to, “receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” So, what will you do?

Choose Christ
I urge you to make a heartfelt, sincere choice to receive the payment of Jesus Christ on the Cross as your hope for forgiveness of sins and to trust in the power of His resurrection as the guarantee that He will raise you up in the last day.
